The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has announced the deletion of Liberia «Schedule of non-tax havens». To this end, Liberia had to promise to introduce a program to improve the transparency and effective exchange of information on tax matters.
Liberia has become the 34 th jurisdiction to pass such obligations as a result of the activities of the OECD «curb harmful tax practices». OECD was «The list of non-tax havens» back in 2002. Now in the black list were only Andorra, Liechtenstein, Marshall Islands and Monaco.
OECD Secretary General Angel Gurria welcomed the commitment of Liberia and noted that the OECD would be ready to assist Liberia in the implementation of reforms in the tax area. «This is a time of great change for Liberia,» - he said. «Liberia's commitment to standards of transparency and effective exchange of information on tax matters will lead to the enhancement of its reputation in the international community that will facilitate long-term development.»
