The total number of active companies registered at the end of June amounted to 622'318 at 30'374 more than at the end of June 2006. The total number of foreign companies was 7'854 at the end of June, that is, 145 more than at the end of last year. There were 132 Prospect investment companies, including 55 mutual funds, compared with 124 leaflets, including 46 mutual funds, during the same period of 2006. The total number of calls to the court for the Treatment Registry of Companies against companies violating the Companies Act (largely nesdachu reporting) was 2'992 compared to 2'834 for the same period of 2006. According to 1'111 cases were adjudicated, as compared to 1'115 for the same period last year, and 837 cases were in manufacturing. The total amount of fines imposed as a result of HK $ 6.17 million (US $ 788'000), compared with HK $ 7.16 million for the same period last year.
